FAQs

Do you deliver?

Yes, I can deliver and set up your cake. Delivery fees are based on miles, at $1/mile round trip with a $15 minimum charge (I live in Lindon). You are also welcome to arrange with me to pick up your order at no cost. Delivery and pick ups are available Monday - Saturday, no Sundays, and must be scheduled.

Please be aware that once I have either completed the cake set up or handed the cake over to you at pick up, you assume all responsibility and liability for the cake. Anything that you choose to add to the cake (candles, fresh flowers, etc.) is after I have completed my work and I am not responsible for any damage or issues such things may cause. If you will pick up your cake, I highly recommend having a large flat area to set the cake on for transport and turning up your air conditioning. Give yourself time to drive as smoothly as possible, and no showing off your crazy cornering skills. Showing (and eating) the cake itself is much preferable to showing everyone pictures of what it used to look like.

What do I need for my cake?

The best possible environment for your cake will be an indoor, air conditioned facility, in an area not in direct sunlight (especially during the hot Utah summers). Frosting is butter-based, and butter does not hold form well in the heat. If you have an outdoor event, I highly recommend keeping the cake in the above-stated environment until it is time for the actual cutting and distributing of the cake, to minimize heat-related damage.

The other thing to keep in mind is to have a good, sturdy table set up in a corner or along a wall (so it’s less likely to be accidentally bumped or anything like that). Cakes can be very heavy, especially tiered cakes, and it would be heartbreaking to lose a cake to an accident.

Do you have cake stands for display I can rent?

At this time, I unfortunately do not. I am doing this out of my home, with limitations on space and budget. I am happy to work around and/or with whatever decorations you provide for your display area.

When should I order? Is there a deposit?

Ideally, as soon as you know the date you’ll want your order ready by. Longer lead time means I can do more decorating work (particularly important for fondant work), but I can also work with less time for less elaborately decorated cakes. So if it comes up that you need a cake, cupcakes or specialty item within a day or two, as long as I’m not otherwise committed, I’m happy to do that too.

Any order over $100 will require a non-refundable deposit to hold the date. That deposit will go towards the overall cost, assuming you do not cancel your order.

Do you do tastings?

I do! Since I do this out of my home, I only make cakes by order and I must prepare everything specifically for the tasting. Therefore, tastings must be scheduled a minimum of 2 weeks in advance. For a $30 fee, I will prepare three cake flavors (in the form of cupcakes) and three frosting/filling flavors of your choice. You may bring up to 3 other people with you. Additional flavors can be requested for $5 each. If your cake will be over $200, this fee will be applied to it.

When is payment due? Are there any fees?

Full payment is required by one week before the delivery/pick up date. I am required to charge sales tax (6.85%), and that will be included with every quote. I accept Venmo, Paypal or cash. If you choose to do credit with the latter two, the 3% vendor fee will be added to your final bill. However, a debit transaction through Venmo and Paypal has no fee.
